Just signed to present two seminars coming up in January and February, a fishing show and a hiking/camping show that features an epic adventure you can do in a week.
January 21, Sacramento : “How To Triple Your Catch Instantly,” at the International Sportsmen’s Exposition in Sacramento. The show is at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, January 21, at the Adventure Theater at Cal Expo. Info at http://www.sportsexpos.com. This is a fishing show where I’ll show and explain a strategy we have developed that often allows us to catch three times as many fish compared to typical ways to catch trout, striped bass, rockfish, and other fish, even largemouth bass. We will also be awarding this year’s inductees into the California Outdoors Hall of Fame the same day.
February 9, Burlingame: I’m also giving a free show on the evening of Thursday, February 9: Sierra Crossing, The epic trek you can do in a week, at the Burlingame Public Library. This is the crossing of the Sierra, east to west as the pioneers and trailblazers would have done it, from Mount Whitney across the Sierra Crest and Great Western Divide and into the foothills of the Sierra Nevada above the San Joaquin Valley.
Hope to see you at one of these upcoming shows.
Coming this month: Three new books, E-book only:
Sierra Crossings, The epic trek you can do in a week
Sunday Drive Getaways, 125 best in the Bay Area and Beyond
Sweet Vengeance, An Inspector Korg Mystery, my first novel
More info to come. In additions, new editions of California Hiking and California Fishing will be published in late winter.
Feel great in the next 24 hours: Hike. Bike. Camp. Fish. Boat. Wildlife watch. Explore.

Hi Tom,
Heading (for our first time) to Death Valley mid-April (after Zion and Grand Canyon) and will be tent-camping for two nights with two young kids. Furnace Creek campground will be closed for repairs (alas!), so all the campgrounds will be first come-first serve. Any recommendations for which campground to try for: Texas Spring, Mesquite Spring, or somewhere else? Greatly appreciate any tips!
Thanks!
Hello:
Great lecture on your new book, “Sierra Crossing” at the Burlingame library. Enjoyed it very much.
Have you done any hiking or writing around Kybruz Flat and Henness Pass Road in the Sierras or the Independence and Meadow Lake areas ?
